Dented oil pan. Any consequences?
Hey guys, I changed my oil for the first time since the swap and noticed that my oil pan was dented. This probably happened during shipping. I was wondering what the consequences may be. Should I replace the oil pan?
It's dented in about an inch deep in some parts and about 1/2 an inch on other areas. I guess it's because they had it on a pallet while shipping it. I changed my oil the other day and I put 3 1/2 quarts in, yet it's already almost on the second hole on the dipstick. Could the oil pan be the culprit?

Hmmmmm,
One issue is that if it's dented, it may interfere with the oil getting picked up properly? Isn't 2 inches kind of a big dent? It may be weaker and more likely to fail
I'm not sure though...
Maybe it's a good time to get a Moroso?

I would think the oil pan is the culprit to your oil level woes.
You don't want bearings looking like this: http://kjvieira.tripod.com/pics/car/...arings-BAD.jpg

I noticed a bolt missing from my pan the other day. No leaking, thank god. I want to replace it. What size bolt and how tight?
Thanx...

No, it's not the grooves, it deeper than that. How hard is it to change an oil pan?
Drain the oil from the pan, remove your header/cat, remove the 20+ bolts holding the pan, and that should be it. I don't think I missed anything.
The hardest part will be with the header/cat bolts. They maybe rusted badly. If so, try to grind them off and get new ones.
