Default What's wrong with this picture? Headgasket

Check this out and see if you guys can figure out what was wrong with this picture. Copper coated gasket is exactly as it was pulled off the engine. It spewed oil all through the back of the motor passenger side to the fornt. I know what was wrong , ome on geniuses can you see the error?
Oh bottomw gasket is a stock gasket btw.

BINGO! Yeah ,y friend had been banging his head for a couple of weeks not wanting to pull it apart he asked me to come take a look at it and first thing that popped in my head was either it is on upside down or he has an LS gasket on it. It was upside down! Whew quick easy cheap fix. At least there wasn't anything wrong with his block or head.

It may be a trick of the camera, but it also looks like the bore is smaller on the bottom one. Might want to check that out.

Nah as mentioned above it was installed upside down and good eye the bottom one is a stock gasket and top is a 84mm Cometic. He has a new overbored stock gasket coming soon.

Hybrid901 ALMOST made that mistake as we were putting his engine together... LOL. I saw a few things not lining up right, and were swapped it around.

lol i did the same thing, cept i had it UP the right way but I turned it around 180 degrees. Thats a mistake you only make once, as 3 quarts of oil is emptied in 30 secs.

This was after working 8 hours then another 3 on my car so my head wasn't screwed on too tight.

I did something similar as well...Forgot the gasket altogether
Luckily I noticed before I tried to start the car.

I recently did that too. Installed it upside down just like that. Oil was spewing at the rear of the motor, near the oil breather tank, right below the intake manifold.

Oops.
