Default reliability?

Here another noob ? from me. If I like to take thirteen and longer road trips is my car going to be less reliable after a certain hp? Or with these long trips is FI the wrong way to go? And when I mean long road trips I mean staying at the same speed not boosting up and down all the time

it matters when you are in boost for a long period of time like in 5th gear and trying to ride it for 10 minutes which cant be done but you know what I mean. If you are having doubts dont do it you must have to want this oryou will end up with a broken car and no desire to fix it.

Heres the deal when you are staying at the same speed you are not boosting unless you have the pedal to the metal. so in other words having a turboed car staying at the same speed is the same as having a non turbo car going the same constant speed. except when you put your foot down on the turbo car it will thromp the sh#t out of the non one

5th gears brings in a different load...and EGT's jump, big time....

Ive boosted in 5th all the time, i probably hit 150 mph on a weekly basis (dont recommend it for safety reasons)

but my car had perfect compression after 1.5 years of boosting and lots of high speed runs.

Sure. As long as the motor is properly maintained, decently tuned and you don't try to run 16psi on 87 octane

Do a compression and a leakdown test so you're sure your motor is ready for boost. As for cruising in 5th, just stay out of boost or your EGTs will skyrocket as was previously mentioned.

You can use it, you just have to be intelligent about it if you want your motor to last.

will this happen if going by 15 second rule? and does it matter what type of fuel managment you have? lets say hondata vs. fmu?

WRX's boost 1 bar (14.7 PSI) stock from the factory. 8 psi is fine on your CRX, you will NOT build boost on the highway. Hell, last summer me and my dad took an 8000 mile round trip (drove to miami and back :D) in his 800+ RWHP twin-turbo challenger and it's doing fine. Don't give it any gas on the highway and you'll stay in vaccuum the whole time. I daily drove a turbo mustang for 2 years, and I took several 1000+ mile trips with it, and it was fine.

The 15 second rule as, I understand it, is more for 1st through 4th acceleration under boost, EGTs won't rise as drastiacally as a 5th gear pull. The I way see it if you're boosting for more than 15 seconds in 1st through 4th on a public road, you're going too fast. As far as the fuel management, yeah it can make a difference, but if it was me I wouldn't push the envelope too far. But thats just me, its your car.
