Default Open headers

Is running open headers going to improve hp over full exhaust?
Is it safe?
What are some down sides of running a header then no exaust pipe?

Downside NOISE/STENCH
Yes it will improve hp but if were talking a daily driver here its way to much trouble.....but you can always get a dump valve(cutout that can be controlled from the inside of the car) you can get a kit that will allow you to pull a lever/cable? not quite sure and it runs a open header then when you want to run your exhaust you can switch it back.

You will loose torque but gain hp up top. Its ok for the track as long as they let you but for a daily driver. You better bring your ear plugs and your radar detector.

ok...first of all, you only have one header...so 'header' instead of 'headers'
second, it's gonna be noisy as all hell and third, it's the next best thing to attract pigs. so yes, go fast, enjoy the increase hp, smell nice on your date with fumes all over your clothes and good luck fighting that mean ******* ticket the pig will give you for your open header. oh yea...in socal, if a pig catches you running an open header, he CAN have your car towed and impounded...

You loose bottom end HP. ur 5th gear would suck like ****. I have open headers on my crx and by the time I get out of the car my face is all bloated cause of the fumes.. my eyes are all red and ****.. It's annoying too. Ewww..... I like it with the stock exhaust!

I drove around open headered one time with my B16... it was ungodly loud... especially in VTEC. I would get an exhaust cutout though.

I've heard (I can't verify this) that the exhaust valves burn out if they don't have enough backpressure, if you run the car open headered all the time.
