can someone please tell me what open headers is and what if increases hp?

I did not see much, if any, difference with an open header. Just a hell of a lot of noise.

There is some difference, just like having a straight pipe, etc. W/o any of that there is no constricition of air flow etc....But when i was having my car worked on just for giggles we turned it on w/o Headers, etc....Wow, did it ever sound like butt.
