Re: open headers or no open headers (b16coupe4)
what?
going open header will not only give you a NASTY sound but a few tickets as well, are you talking about going like this for good or just at the track? i'd just get a nice header and a good exhaust set up
it's header by the way, you only have one!

gotcha, if your on the track, I'd go open, better flow of exhaust = better times, but do an experiment, go open and then try with your exhaust on, and report back yO!

Well, you don't have very many mods at all, so you probably won't notice any real difference going open header.
Also, periods are your friend, so are sentences!
EDIT: commas are also your friend. Your **** is so damn hard to read.

Your friends are ******* idiots. I suppose that's why all professional drag racers run full exhausts, huh ?
Anyhow. It will make a difference and I suggest doing so when you go to the track. If you don't want to get dirty, buy an electrically-triggered cutout so you can open it with the push of a button at stoplights or the tree or whatever. Bolt or weld it on right after the header collector and you're set.
Expect to pick up a tenth of a second at the track, maybe more.

You're not making enough power for it to make a difference worth a damn.

Re: open headers or no open headers (b16coupe4)
yeah, unless you've got a turbo on there it's gonna sound like a lawn mower on crack w/o the exhaust... trust me, I know! LoL. I had my header open when I changed my exhaust out and man was it bad. Not to mention that I was paranoid everywhere I went about getting stopped. So yeah, in summation, keep the exhaust on! The track doesn't matter so much, but I doubt it will help you much if any at this point, and may rob you of some exhaust velocity...

Re: open headers or no open headers (VSM_EH-3)
sounds stronger but probably a very minimal gain. Why bother unless you drive around every day with open header.

Re: open headers or no open headers (EK9D6)
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that running an open header on a stock engine will actually decrease power. Our small 4 cyl engines need the backpressure of an exhaust system to function optimally. Thats how the exhaust system works, the gases come out in pulses and they help pull eachother through the exhaust like waves.
I could see doing it with a turbo or something but on a stock engine, it's likely that you'll lose power, be SUPER loud and get pulled over many times.
