Who has had a bad experience w/ Redline Tranny Fluid?
I don't like it either, at least not in Honda's. I put it in my 94 Prelude V-tec and it was too slippery. It made the grinding from my worn synchro in 5th gear even worse.
I spoke to the techs at Acura who I know pretty well.... Use ONLY the honda MTL. The others do not help at all. They will affect the syncros. Just an FYI.
I"ve been using it for 6 months and no problems! I also used it in my 96LS w/ NO problems! I don't know what you're doing to your trannys to make them grind!
I've been using Redline MTL for about 3 years now. No problems what so ever. The MTL fixed a problem I had getting the car into first when the car was moving. It's much easier to do now.
FYI Honda MTL is a synthetic, so chances are the gains going to Redline would be small. I went with Redline just because I was trying to fix a problem.

We're talking about oil for a manual transmission, right? I went to FRANK ANCONA HONDA in Olathe, KS yesterday to get some Honda manual transmission oil. The kid at the counter said he just sells 5-30 engine oil for that purpose and there is no such thing as Honda MT oil anymore.
What's the scoop?
What's the scoop?
The "older" Hondas, including G2 Integra (90-94) called up 10W30 motor oil for the transmission.
The G3 Integra shop manual called up Honda MTL, but does say in a pinch motor oil can be used, however it should be replaced with MTL as soon as possible.
I would tend to believe Honda engineer when they say motor oil should be avoided in the newer manual transmissions.

Just changed mine... and you want to know what I used, and is working awesome... GM Synchomesh... designed for the big 6-speeds in the Vettes, etc.
