There has been a little debate on how to bleed the clutch correctly, I'll give to examples of what i've heard and if it isn't either please tell me the correct way, I play on doing this tomorrow.

First Way:
Press the clutch to the floor and hold it. Open bleeder screw on slave cylinder until liquid/air comes out, close bleeder screw. Pull clutch pedal up slowly with hand. Repeat. Make sure resovoir is always topped off.

Second Way:
Get the silicone hose and connect it to the bleeder on the slave cylinder, put it into a bottle and fill the bottle with brake fluid. Open the bleeder screw and pump the clutch while it's open. Close bleeder screw when finished. Make sure resovoir is always topped off.

 

2nd way.

 

so i push the clutch down and pull it up and keep doing it while the bleeder screw is open? what if the hose isn't securely around the bleeder, will it introduce air into the system?

 

i did it the 2nd way, and no problems with the clutch

but on my buddy's civic, we had to do it the first way before he got a good pedal feel.

Make sure it is on securely.

I bleed my clutch and brakes via method #2

 

here's a third way that I used for the clutch.

gravity bleeding... connect hose to the nipple. open bleed screw and let the fluid flow into a container. no need to touch the clutch pedal at all. just be sure to refill the reservoir before it runs dry.

no matter which of the methods you select, be sure to get most off the fluid and junk out of the clutch fluid reservoir and refill with fresh fluid before you start the bleeding process.

so everyone agree's this is basically the best way? obviously i'll have someone watching the resovoir to make sure it's always topped off. If i bleed the clutch will it give me a stiffer pedal feel? My pedal doesn't feel like 3 of my other friend's si's

I need to do this on my RSX</TD></TR></TABLE> clutch resovoir... if you dont know, i advice you not to do it alone, get someone who knows. its a pretty simple process.. you cant really mess anything up, but you could be there for a long time bleeding.

...dont do method 2 the Dr. pooface method...unless you want to have a hefty repair bill.

Getting air in the lines isn't that bad, you just have to waste a bunch of fluid to get it all out.

 

I use a manual speed bleeder.

Takes about 4 minutes to completely flush your clutch system, and it is 1/10th the effort.

 

I have a speedbleeder. I then attached a hose to the bleeder placed it in a container with brake fluid in it. And pump the clutch 5-6 times, top of reservoir, pump 5-6 more times, and so on and so on until the reservoir has all transparent fluid in it. Then finish up by tightening the speedbleeder.

Does that sound correct?

 

This post is just in time. Here is what happend to me today...I was driving around town in my car today when all of a sudden I lose all pressure feel to my clutch (goes all the way to the floor)....I immediately pull into a nearby parking lot and can't get it into gear anymore. I pumped the pedal a few times and managed to get some feel back, but its still a bit mushier than it was before, and I still can't get it into gear. The clutch will not disengage.

*So i check the fluid...it has a slight brownish tint to it but not murky.
*This is a new clutch assembly (ACT) with about 2000 miles on it (broken in properly)
*No leaks checked the MCC and the SCC and I don't see or feel in any leaks.
*I had to leave it in the lot, but by coincidence I parked it next to another CW ITR.

I am gonna try to bleed the SCC tomorrow (I bought a liter of DOT4). Do you think this will solve or at least me get my car in gear to get it home, or am I screwed?
