I have a 92 civic that's been slightly modified, I'm wondering if it's worth modifying it more since the chassis has 155 miles on it. Reason I wonder is because the 92 civic isn't exactly known for having a stiff chassis to begin with, and with 155 miles on it, wouldn't it be even flimsier?

I don't mind rebuilding the drivetrain and such, but that still doesn't do anything for the actual chassis stiffness. I don't want to go ***** out and get a cage either, and I really don't have the money to pay someone to seam weld the chassis, so should I just sell the car and look for one with lower mileage? Am I worrying about nothing? Does a civic's chassis get that much flimsier over time? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

 

I'd guess it will depend on the individual car. Do a serious check for rust in the floor, rockers, suspension mounting points, and boxed members of the chassis. If the car is relatively strong in these areas it should be OK for any street driving you should do. Always look for a good chassis first.

 

Learn to weld yourself and install bracing throughout. Particluarly near the suspension pivot points. Definitely do the strut-tower/lower-tie bars.
