Default hybrid tranny

I have been here thinking of how to put a ls tranny to good use. I was wondering about the final drive. It is a low 4.2xx but vtec tranny's usually have a 4.400. Well, what about but a type r 4.7xx final drive in a ls tranny. It would be higher than a gsr but longer than a type r. I have never heard of this being done? You can pick up ls tranny's very cheap and throw in a quaife while your at it. The main reason i wonder this is because a have a cable tranny car. As you guys know it is very difficult to find a gsr ys1 vtranny unless you want to ghet butt raped. But.... ls 92-93 trannys are only a couple hundred dollars and are large like newer hydro trannys. soooo you see why i wonder about the type r final drive. thanks

Wouldn't 3rd,4th with this setup would still be shorter than GSR gears. Has anyone ever tried this setup?

Out of curiousity, why would you advise that?

Gotcha... I thought that you were saying to change 3 and 4 for some sort of mechanical reason. Makes sense.
