My first Honda, first V-Tec. I have a need to know.
I have just purchesed my first Honda and it's a 1997 Accord Station Wagon with a 2200cc (2156 true) SOHC V-Tec, 4-speed auto tranny. Can anyone tell me where I can get a book. manual, any thing that I can learn about the Honda V-Tec engines. I need to understand quite much more as to what it is and how to tune ot even speak to anyone about this engine. i.e. "high cam, low cam, OBbbbbb 1 and OBbbbb 2 something". You get my point.
I need the help as I know NADA!............ Thanks.......... Michael deFreitas

Well at least he didn't spell it VTECH like those whack *** phones.
As for learning, yea, read as much as you can. Do a search on topics you might find interesting.
Go to the dealer, buy a Helms manual for your car. That will tell you a TON of stuff.
Other than that, have fun with your new car.

why do honda owners get pissed all the time about the vtech thing...I made that mistake once because I was thinking of the word technology, and an entire website jumped on my ***...
so what would happen if one constantly referred to VTEC as VTECH?

I once owned a ROVER (british) 2000TC, now what does that mean ? twin cam NO, try twin carburetor !!. The point being that I have never heard of "VTEC" before I became interested in Honda, hence my simple request for information as to not only what it is but, how does it work. Plus the fact that "VTEC" in not a word nor is SOHC for that matter.
Now that we have that out of the way, I would still like to know what would make good and informative reading regarding the Honda VTEC engine ?. On this board I all the people write about ECU, CAT, 4-2-1 (if that is how it is spelt) etc.
Thank you............ Mike deFreitas

Well my friend. Vtec is half electic, and half oil pressure. So oil is important in these motors. Basically its a engine like another other car 3000 mile oil changes. Glad they made the new RS-X with a timing chain, A belt holding all that exspensive equipement together, belt break all the vtec components have issues. Great dicussion on getting a honda. later
Hey did you think nobody was going to read your other posts. You never mention you owned one until now. Give it up. Unless you have a H22 motor in it and an SiR badge ...oh yeah and bought in Japan there is no DOHC motor in any 5th gen Accord made for the US market. If there was I would be owning one right now.
By the way..do you have a mullet??
