ACT 6-puck + HD pressure plate? Opinions and experiences?
I have read on some sites that the ACT 6-puck race disc is "for race use only." Then I read somewhere else "generally not recommended for street use." Then "streetable with fairly harsh engagement" (to be expected). It being more streetable than the 4-puck is obvious. I have no modifications to my R but want a clutch and flywheel upgrade for future mods. I will use a Fidanza flywheel, and would like to hear some expert opinions on the streetablility of this clutch. Fairly harsh engagement does not bother me, so about where in the pedal travel does it start to grab? Where does it engage? Can it be slipped manageably for daily street use? I want to use the 6-puck disc and the heavy-duty (not extreme) pressure plate.
Thanks for the info!
Oh and I already did a search and the results were pretty bogus.

I've driven a 4-puck before, I'd go with a Street and Strip ACT clutch. With a stock ITR you don't need that kind of a clutch. If you are going to turbo, supercharge or put a large shot of NOS on your car........then yeah, you might need a 4 or 6 puck. Just .02$
Well i Run the 6 puc w/ H/D pressure plate daily, i don't really mind it, i've been runnin that same clutch for 3 yrs...so it's lasted and still running strong...but don't get me wrong it takes getting used to and sucks a$$ in traffic...so it really depends on what kind of driveability and creature comforts that you want to retain, BTW did i mention i run no a/c and power steering...good thing there's my reliable beater and those too hot days for driving the R
I have a Drag Gen 3 turbo kit in my GSR and I am on the stock clutch.
Granted I slip everynow and then but it is still good. I got 45k miles on the
clutch so go figure!
I think 6 puck clutches are way to extreme unless you are pushing over
450 horses or something and you are a straight line racer. If you ever want
to tear up twisties, autocross or road race... I think you are going to have
a hard time or your left calf muscle is going to bigger than your right! hehehe

Im currently using a 6 Puck ACT disc with a stock pressure plate.
Its holding up great and pedal pressure is same as stock. The only annoyance is that the disc squeals when you take off sometimes.
I think it really depends on your driving style as well as the power your making - not just the power. I used to have the HD Pressure Plate and Street disc on my old car and I ate up the disc in 3 months! I wasnt making alot of power...but I did drive the car hard.

i'm running this with a Toda flywheel and its ok when racing but i've only had it for a few weeks. I might keep it but i am considering switching to the street/strip design. The clutch makes a noise when you ride it a lttle bit (like taking off going up a hill. But all in all i think its a good clutch.
Eric dog......you must have got the extreme plate, the HD plate is NOWHERE near the pedal effort as yours!!!!
