my Apex tach isnt working right. it works good up until around 6k rpm, then it starts going crazy. the needle will just bounce crazily and i never know when i'm at redline. there's nothing wrong with the tach itself cuz it works good up until then, and it's brand new. and my autometer tach did the same thing too. i have the signal wire hooked up to the tach signal (blue wire) on the driver side wire harness. btw this is a 92 Civic HB with an H22 motor.

 

i will say it's the igniter on your distributor, even though i have never diagnosed this problem on an h22!

 

Double check the wires to make sure none is getting pinched or grounding out.
