Default Tac going crazy

My Autometer tac is going crazy. When the car is idling the tac operates as it should. The second you give it gas, it bounces all over the place. I checked all grounds, and connected it to the blue wire at the distrib. This is in an 90 CRX SI

any help would be appriciated.

Thanks,

is it just the tach or is your motor also skipping around? i have a 91 crx si and i had the needle skipping around on my stock tach and the motor skipped around when i floored it. i ended up changing the ignitor module and it cleared it right up.

Its just the tac the motor is running fine. Like i will be around 4k and it will jump from 8 -10k rpms.

Get a new distributor cap&rotor. About $25 total and very easy to install. My CRX used to do that, but worked like a charm after I replaced the cap/rotor.

Ground wire, loose distributor bolts, random misfire, or something to that effect. Distributor cap as mentioned earlier could also help.

I just fixed this on my 91 teg. There are three wires that go to the igniter.
It's the brown or black square module on the lower edge of the
dizzy under the rotor.
The wires attach to the igniter with spade connectors.
One or two or all three of those wires need to be pressed in tighter.
You should also put on some Di-electric grease.
And if your tach still goes crazy you might need to crimp the connectors
"GENTLY" with a plier to make them fit tighter.
