That is a lie.

I bought a 5 lug missing two lugs. I bought the two missing lug from an Acura dealership and had my local shop press the lugs in. Didn't have to replace any parts, only paid a labor charge.

they pressed the hub out for you and didn't have to replace the bearing?

I don't think they pressed the hub. They undid those two big phillips head screws on the hub and removed it and then pressed the studs in. I think thats how they did it, but even if I'm wrong they still didn't have to replace any bearings so your shop is lying to you.

if somebody told you that without saying something like: "I looked at your bearing and it's totally shot, you need a new one" then he is lying to your face.

sounds like somebody is trying to rip you off. which shop did you go to??

thats bullshit...i did that on my 97 ex cpe...

i actually broke 2 studs off my front passenger side wheel...

1. you have to pull the entire hub assemble out of the car, you unbolt the top and
lower control arm bolts and you'll need a ball joint popper..

2. once you have the hub out...there are 2 phillips screw that appear to be holding
the rotor on..( there NOT )..those are put there back in the assembly plant
to hold the rotors down, when they made them...those screws DO NOT hold the
rotor to the wheel...The lug nuts hold the rotor to the wheel.

3. some people told me to take the hub to a shop, and have it pressed out...others
said you can just smack it out....well to get the studs out, you have to get the
hub apart...so i used a board and a sledge hammer, gave it a few whacks...
it came apart...then i just knocked the broken studs out...put the new studs in
got them nice and flush...put the hub back together, used the board and hammer making sure i got it in nice and equally in, (not just banging it in there), tapped it in, made sure it was all even and tight..

4. reassemble the hub back into the car, tightened everything up, and everything
works fine....i was afraid about the wheel bearings being out a' whack, b/c i
didn't have it pressed out or in...but i have no vibrations, and several of my
friends with civics have done it the same way, and they haven't had any problems either..

my bad i was typing faster than i was thinking...

when i was taking the hub apart i used a pipe i had that fits inside the hub just right, and i used the hammer on the pipe...knocking it out that way...but if you don't have a pipe that fits, you could use a flat blade screwdriver, and go in circles tapping it out, until it came apart.
