Is the lug on the front or the back? I would just use a big *** punch and put the whole hub on a vice because it can be a real bitch to take the stud out sometimes..

If it is on the front of the car I would just take it into a machine shop were they have a press and have it pressed out, now if he is planning on puting in a new stud you better get yourself a front wheel bearing because at the machineshop they will have to separate the hub from that one suspension component and once you do that the wheel bearing is shot so you got to get a new one...
