everybodies opinion, whats better to start with...........
there is a price difference but it makes it well worth it , with the R if ur buying complete swap ull get and LSD tranny, better cams, higher compression, better tranny(gear ratios) with lighter flywheel, jdm header, better flowing head and higher revving valvetrain. price difference alone says do it!

Yeah, GSR. You can port the head better. The factory kills the port on those heads.

This is like comparing apples and orangesI like the type R myself. We have had much succes with those motors as well as gsr too. Honestly it really doesnt matter though. I have done gsr that run very strong and type R as well. you can name just about every single popular honda engine and people have gone fast with them. like b series. h series d series. just build it right. and more importantly tune it right, have the car setup right, and get alot of seat time and it will run well. good luck!

well right now i have a jdm itr tranny with a action 1md clutch, so iam puttin that on whatever i get. one question is the gsr manifold really as restrictive as everybody says it is????
it basically just comes down to what ur plans are for the car..... if your going to be keeping most of the interals all stock and just do bolt ons then the type R but if ur gonna do a complete build up id go with the gsr. tell us what ur plans are for the car
for the time being iam just going to keep it pretty much stock, iam going to prob put cams and springs in for whatever i do, but i want to drive it daily and drag it on the weekends, so iam thinking right now jdm itr it is going to be.......

Yep, good answer. I swapped in the type r and I love it...but thats all I wanted to run. Not interested in going f/i. Now I will do some other things for tuning purposes and maybe some juice at some point but overall its a pretty strong motor and when you get it around 5500 to 9000 it screams.

If I were you, I would get the GSR and then spend the extra money on valve springs, cams, CTR pistons, Venom IM, and Quaife LSD. You will smoke the R anytime.

Yeah usually the more money you pour into a motor the faster it will be...
But if you want to be Smart about it keep it stock internally and you will see less problems down the road.
