umm... the car doesn't really know if it's in gear or not as far as the RPMs go... so if the oil temp is right and you hit 4400... its on.

But it has the VSS, so it knows whether the car is moving.

lol... dont worry about it.... vtec is not ACTUALLY engagin... the VAFC does NOT tell you when the vtec is engaging...

For example

YOu set the vtec at 5500 rpm, and the vtec controller reads 5500 rpm, it SHOULD be on, so it reports to you that it is on... I realized this when the RPM gauge on my vafc and my gauges were different. I was actually at 3000 RPM but my VAFC thought I was at 5500 RPM (had to reset it), so it thought my vtec was on... It just reports to you when ur vtec should come on... there is no real way for the VAFC to tell whether the car is moving or not... Dont worry about it.....

oh scratch my last idea. the VAFC doesn't know that the car is moving. like the previous guy said the VSS tells if its moving... and if im not mistaken you disconnect it when you install the VAFC. the VAFC will send the VTEC signal no matter what, so it'll engage all the time.

With the VAFC, it alows vtec to be activated whenever. Doesn't matter if the car is cold or in neutral.

yeah, u cut ur vss wire... HOWEVER, if you dont cut it (its optional), ur vtec will NOT engage unless moving.... I think that is correct.
