Reusing head bolts?
I'm gonna be doing an LS/VTEC and the guy is giving me the head bolts that he took off his VTEC motor also, now i know on some domestics the bolts were designed to stretch and they won't accomodate the same amount of torque if used a second time, does this remain true for honda motors? Can we reuse our head bolts w/out problems?
If they're stock headbolts, I'd suggest getting new ones. ARP ones are designed to be used a few times. Especially if you're going to be doing a LS/Vtec setup, I'd spend a few more bucks for safety of mind.
Never replaced any headbolts in any of the ls/vtec or general headswaps I have done. Also I have never had a compression problem by not replacing the bolts. I believe this occurance is more common on domestics than Honda motors. I'd just save the money and use the old ones unless your planning on boosting. 40+ head swaps and no problems yet. HTH
