I have a 1995 integra LS and theres this strange rattling sound that I hear from the car now and then (particularly when I start up the car). I went to this auto body shop guy and he thinks its the AC clutch. One of my friends who works on integs thinks that its the heat shield rattling around inside and I need to bang on it to fix it.

Anyone know what the problem is and what I should do?

Also, my air filter for me AEM CAI makes a whistling sound sometimes, is that normal?

 

Hey man. I dont know where the sound is coming from but it might be as simple as this as my sisters civic does it. Your exhaust might be vibrating against the bumper when you are Idling...get someone to watch it next time.

As for the intake...I'm sure it is normal...making a whistling sound might just be the air...this might sound stupid but its the only example I can think of. Such as shooting a rock from a sling shot...somehow some can whistle (I did it once)

 

Where does the rattling sound like it's coming from? Most likely it's your heat shield. It'll rattle at certain RPMs because of the vibrations made. Regarding the intake, it's perfectly normal. I actually really like the whistling noise that CAIs make.

they all do that.

 

AEM: Whistling is normal - sonic boom is normal

I've already had issues with my heatshields and took them off - vibrated when I started and between 3000-3200 RPM

Having same prob thought it was a heat shield but it got worse it was both clutch and shield.

 

everything sounds normal to me!! dont worry

 

vibrating is usually the heat shield on the cat.
