Acura Dealer Dented My Front Bumper!!!!!!!!
I can't believe it!!! My front bumper has a dent. Looks like a pipe or something hit it!!! I am sure it happened at the dealer! What should I do? The car was in service today and it happened, and then I noticed later today when I was about to have the car shipped (the guy shipping the car noticed the dent). How do dealers handle this?? This happened at Pauly Acura in Highland Park, IL in case anyone cares. They are supposed to be an excellent dealership, but I guess **** happens. Ugh, I'M SO PISSED OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
or.... you could call and speak with the service manager and explain what happened and ask what he will do to fix it.
If your car has already been picked up for shipment, call him immediately anyway to discuss it. Offer to send him photographs. And yes, ask what he will do to fix it (keeping in mind, of course, that bringing it by to show him is no longer an option).
Mistakes can happen anywhere; the good places make it right, though. At another local dealer, whose service is top notch, their best service writer backed one of the customer cars through the closed door of the service area. They provided a loaner, their insurance paid for the repair (the service writer paid the deductible out of her pocket), and everyone was okay with the outcome.
P.S. Weren't you going to have that front bumper repainted anyway? Sounds like a good opportunity to do so...

I when I called the service department had already closed, but I will speak to him on Monday; i left my name and number with the sales manager who said he would talk to the service manager and have him call me.
In terms of proving the dent is there I don't think that is a big deal. I mean I can take it to a dealer in AZ and they can verify that.
I think they will try to make good on it though. They put in regular oil instead of synthetic because I forgot to mention it and the service manager came out when I was leaving and told me he would fix it if I wanted but I had to get home for the shipper so I said not to worry about it.
Hopefully things are worked out.

Yeah always check your oil make sure they put in oil and check everything is tight because I've heard too many accidents of oil not put in or something not tight and leaked out everywhere.
i dunno, I think you are partially right Racer-X. However, i take my car to the dealer for a reason. If I want to save some money and take a risk of something happening i can take the car to a Jiffy Lube or something. When I take my car to an Acura dealer to be serviced I expect a level of quality to be mantained. This level should be such that I don't have to check the mechanics work, or wonder if things were done right.
I agree that it is good to be on the safe side; but honestly Acura should not make those kinds of mistakes.
Anyways, we will see if they fix my bumper; hopefully things can be worked out.

Lol..a level of quality?I wish I could say that. After having my car worked on by the dealer here I lost all confidence in them.Everytime I have had them work on it something else has gone wrong.Right now I am experiencing a throw out bearing that likes to sing.I was going to replace the damn clutch myself until the service manager seen me in there getting prices for the parts and asked me what I was doing. So,he offered to do the work under warranty. In the process of screwing up my throw out bearing they managed to scrape some paint off the chin spoiler which they now deny doing. In my case ,Dealer

most dealers suck major *** when it comes to service. when my clutch went out i had it taken to the dealer and it took them forever to fix it. finally when i get it back it worked perfectly. then a couple of days later it was making an annoying squeaking noise everytime i pressed down on the clutch pedal as it did right before i had it taken in.
LOL... I don't think you will see too many peeps disagreeing with you here...
Dealer = Overpriced poor service = Lack of competence = Lack of respect for the customer... Period !!!!

to my dealer
So I do apologize for making a blanket statement... Gotta give those good dealers a benefit of the doubt, untill proven otherwise... No???
Once, I took my car to my dealer (27 miles away) to have the trunk struts replaced. They had pre-ordered new struts. When I got there, it turns out the wrong part had come in. So they had me take my car back, and when the right part came in, they came to my house and installed them there.
Some dealers are better than others. In a big market, the competition helps; of the nine Acura dealers in the area, four others are closer to home than the one I use. But I know they do the job right. I run into other customers there all the time and the story is almost always the same. I guess that's why they keep winning Acura's "Precision Team" award, year after year.
The guys who dented my bumpr, Pauly Acura, are supposed to be great. While I was there another local ITR owner was having his engine installed that he just got back from Endyn.
I would definately go back to Pauly again; I think they will handle this dent situation and take care of things. So I would definately lit them as a dependable dealer.

Just something else for you guys.A close friend which also has an ITR works there. He is a service writer.I have known him long before he worked there. So,I asked him what the vibe is when myself or any other ITR owner comes in.He said simply"A red flag is raised automatically when one of these cars comes in.The service manager asumes that it is abuse".I wonder if all dealers look at it this way?
