I have a 95 automatic accord EX and recently it started leaking oil. I took it to my friends shop and they said it was the main seal and that they would fix it for $220. Today he called me and said that the car would be ready in the afternoon but that I had to pay $130.00 more because of some special brackets that the tranny was hooked up to. I thought this was b.s. and he's just trying to screw me out of some money. Has anybody on here had their main seal changed at a shop? If so, around how much money did you end up paying? Thanks.

yes that price is cheap compare to dealer's charge

to repair the main seal (only one seal) is main shaft seal,,,,

the mechanic have to pull out the tranny and replace the seal....

Thanks to everybody who has replied to my post. I just got my car back last night and this morning it was still leaking oil. Not as much as before, but it was leaking. What other things might be wrong with my car?

 

Where is it leaking from?

 

the front balancer shaft seal recall expired on 1-03 so if it is that one and it is due for a timing belt change, the dealer will install that retainer kit at the same time they do the t-belt
