Default For those of you with header wrap...

Im picking some up today and wanted to see how far down you wrapped each runner, and how you secured the wrap at the end. I thought maybe a zip tie, but I figured that may melt. Any other warnings/opions welcome.

I heard that your header will rust if you wrap them, is that true?

no.. but its prone to crack.. on the welds..since your keeping all the heat into them.. try not to wrap near the welds.. and do the downpipe.. so your oil wouldnt be cooking.. well thats for the turbo guys usually.. im pretty sure the dp on headers gets really hot too

it doesnt make it rust and as per DEI it is false that it causes cracks, i have it on my dp , it does stink like **** for a while though. i might be taking mine off.
they make like metal zip ties for it.

Wrapping the header voids the warranty you might have on the header.

Interesting. My dp? Im supercharged. No turbo here. So, Ill start near the first bend in the header, then stop before the collector?

Couple options here. I cant get the header out without lifting the car. I can either get a jack, stands, and wheel chocks and do it myself. Or take it to my local shop, have them pull it, Ill wrap it, and have them reinstall it.

Id just go ahead and buy this stuff, but my question is...Will I be able to pull the header out even if the car is lifted off the ground with a jack? Ohh, and what mm are the header and cat bolts?

I searched and found out I need 12mm, 14mm, and an o2 socket (or can I just unplug it?) to get it off. So will I be able to get the header out if I just jack it up with jackstands?

they will rust cause, the wrong process was done installing it...

Ive seen many ceramic coated rusted headers.

as they instruct you
to spray the headers before install with a High heat insulation coat.
after this is dry wet the header wrap and install wait until its fully dry
and spray again this should give you a good coating.
but why not buy the sleeves that just button up when you want them on..

This high heat insulation coat.....is it like a high temp sealer or something? Would discount have it? And can you elaborate on what the can will say?

I dont know of any actual speed shops around here that would carry it. I dont see how it causes rust, sure its possible, but I dont see how. Can you explain that? And what other stuff can I buy at Discount of Advanced that would work?
