Default header question...

ive seen some header with those tapes on them... and i was wondering what kinda of tape i need to use to tape up my header.... im guessing there is a special tape that can handle all that heat and hotness?? so yea if you guy taped up ur headers... please let me knoe what kind ? where u got it and how much...... and of course if it stayed on...

Yeah it's called Header Wrap or Heat Wrap. Most performance stores should carry this. I paid $40 for HUGE roll, I think it was 50' or something. It works, and once it heats up, it stays in place pretty well. You're supposed to secure it in-place with a safety pin, I think.

Worked magic on my turbo's downpipe when it was like an inch from my oil pan <3

won't it also crack your headers over time, due to all that heat?

it just traps moisture in there and it weakens the material over time.

ok.. thanks.. but yea i wasnt really looking for the coating.. i just want something cheap and something i guess reliable ?? i am not sure what the heat wrap thing even does... i just wanted some to put it on the bottem so when i go on curbs and stuff i wont scratch the header too bad... i guess kinda like a protection...

You need a skid plate for that. Just slow down and angle diagonally when going over speed bumps and curb entrances to minimize scraping.

It's just a heat wrap. You can get it at pretty much any performance shop.
