Default how tight should the cv joint bolt be?

i just bought a 92 vx hatch. the seller did not disclose the tranny problems so i am swapping trannies. i have the new tranny but it seems that the bolt on th cv joint is super tight. i was able to break over the driver side, but the passanger side is hell. i do not have access to air so i am using a break over bar and i am having some one hold the brakes in. any ideas on how to get it loose?

are you talking about the spindle nut? well, the easiest way to get it loose is to break it loose while the wheels are still on. I used a old weight set bar to get alot of leverage and it should go no problem, if you already got it jacked up, stick a long screw diver or somthing of that nature inside the slot of the roter and e break it the same way, the scew criver hitting the ground will stop the roter from moving. good luck.

Yes, the nut nut on the control arm is a locknut, and thus pretty tight. Eat some spinach, and get a breaker bar.

EDIT: I didn't read the "Break holding" part. Disregard the above.

Why this has to be the hardest nut to take off!!! I swear someone always post how to break the nut loose. anywho, no hate here.. I had the same problem so this is what I did.

Get some W40 or Liquid Wrench and spray some on the axle nut. Now you know that the axle nut is 32mm so get a smaller socket size like 27mm and put that on top of the nut and bang it with a hammer a couple of times. This should break the nut loose. Now with a little elbow grease on that breaker bar it should come off. If it doesn't do it, repeat the procedure until that sucker comes off.

I had someone step on my brakes instead of putting the wheel back on. I wish I have pics to show you but I hope you get the idea.
