a few questions about ecu's
my confusion starts with wanting to change from an obdII to an obdI. If i buy the conversion harness, i still need to buy the obdI ecu, correct? but what about a skunk2 ecu, or a hondata? i don't really understand the differences between each and how they all tie together. :-? Any help is greatly appreciated.

"skunk2 ecu" is an obd1 ecu with a skunk2program...basically you can get obd1 ecus reprogrammed. (ie mugen, jun, skunk2) So you would still need 1)obd2 to obd1 harness 2)obd1 ecu and 3)either get the ecu w/ the program already on it or send it out to get reprogrammed. Hondata is a unit that alters signals sent out by the ecu. You will need 1)obd2 to obd1 harness 2)obd1 ecu 3)hondata unit. You can im me @jasonkang77@aol.com if you have any further questions. hope this helps.

threatcon13 basically summed it all up for you. Be careful when you buy the obd2 -obd1 conversion harness. There are 2 types of obd2. 96-98 civics/96-99 integras are all obd2A, and 99-01 civics/00-01 integras are obd2B. Different obd2 harnesses....Hondata is good for fine tuning your motor with whatever set up you have. Very good to squeeze out every bit of hp out of your motor. Skunk2 is basically overpriced and their program is a copy of Mugens program. Depending on your set up, or your plans, an obd1 ecu is beneficial because of the amount of upgrades you can do with out getting codes. Also, chipping the obd1 ecu is a lot easier, and you have more choices. More for the dohc vtec, rather than the LS. If you have the money, i'd recommend on going with hondata. Let me know if you have any questions about chipped obd1 ecu's
thanks
