This is absolutely maddening. I hope its the oil pressure sensor. Coudl it be anything else.
This started happening shortly after we put my replacement motor in (Sensor is from a LS). Just the other day it started coming on and staying on...whereas before it used to flicker. Sometimes it does it....sometimes it doesn't.
And yes i do have oil in the car (Fresh oil change on Saturday of last weekend).

it really sounds like a short somewhere...
do you have any wiring diagrams for your ride?
i would start there

I downloaded that civic manual and I have a helms. I have been wondering for a long time if I have a ground issue. my car has also been idling up and down. The other day I made it happen by hitting my hazards.
I've always had a idling problem though. Itsn ot constant and I can make it stop by leaving the car in gear andforcing the idle to go down. If I do that for 10 seconds the idling issue will stop....and yes i have swapped IAC valves.
On a side note. One night I was going to a friends and someone locked up in front of me. I had immediately hit the brakes but the car was still in gear. Eversince then I've had weird electrical issues. Right now my car is running off a deep cycle battery....it won't start normally any other way.
I tried figuring it out for 2 months and I gave up since the optimum battery cleared up most of my issues. I wonder if this oil light issues is part of that. But liek i said it appears to be getting worse.

as for the rough idle check all vacum lines at least that's what is always siad..
did you change any electronics like ecu or obd switch?
worse case situation is go over all wires to make sure there in the proper place....
all it takes is
a friend and a weekend

same thing happens to me, except it's my hatch light!! it stays in until i either drive for a bit, or get out and slam my hatch closed like 4-5 times.
I just ignore it now, but it still bugs the hell out of me!!

Will i'm on my 2nd P28.
I was hoping a Hondata would take care of it. I have checked all the vacuum lines....everything seemed fine.
If it was constant then I'd have soemthing to go on but its so sporadic and esy to manipulate it kinda makes me think its not neccesarily mechanical....I think it may be more electrical.

This is probably an electrical short.
I had the same problem one time. I hit the brakes hard one time and had weird electrical problems afterwards.
Basically I had some bare wires and when I hit the brakes hard it jostled them allowing them to touch each other causing a short.

Did you have to rewire everything....only a few wires, etc.....details, details. Your scenarios sounds real close to mine.

i had similair symptoms like where you hit your hazards and your idle starts going bazerk, it got to the point where my car wouldnt even run..the problem ended up being the o2 censor in the cat the 2 wires were bare and were touching one another causing a big time shortage(thanks to the morons that worked on my car at the time) so what i did was just taped off the wires, reset the ECU and my car ran fine after that so my guess is you have a short somewhere..goodluck mang

if there is a small amount of pressure the motor will still last a nice amount of time before it would possibly blow. check the oil pressure... i remember we intentionally were trying to blow a sohc from my partners civic. there was no oil in the motor and after about 30 minutes of running it at redline with a bat holding the throttle we cut the radiator lines... finnally after 90 minutes it just died... it just didnt want to die... just goes to show they can last a while...
i would still check ur pressure... if that light it going on there is a reason for it... and the first thing to check would be the oil pressure
