turbo set-up? safe?
Hi everyone. My friend Matt and I are looking to put together a custom turbo kit for my car. It's a 90 GS with 148k miles. Would it be safe to run 5-7 psi on stock internals? Here is the list of what we figured we'd need and it came to around 1200 dollars, be in mind that some things will be used.
-T3 turbo w/ internal wastegate
-turbo manifold/downpipe
-BOV
-DSM intercooler
-piping, hoses, clamps
-oil lines
-boost/fuel controller
-guages
-fuel pump
-DSM injectors
I also would need to get a 3"exhaust w/ cat. Do I need a new intake manifold also? I'd appreciate answers to any of my questions and comments on the set-up. Thanks.

what kind of fuel controller r u using?? r u using the afc hack? I am putting my kit on right now and I am using the same thing. you do not NEED an intake manifold.. I have never had anyproblems with the stock ones. what kind or bov r u using?
no no no. I don't HAVE this set-up. I was just asking what people thought of me using this set-up because I'm thinking of doing it. Also is it safe to run 5-7 psi on the stock internals?

I think he means that that you will need a s-afc to control those injectors.
You may want to look for a used fmic instead of a dsm intercooler. Yo ucan find one on e-bay for cheap, if not new ones can be had for as little as $300.You also may want to use a larger turbo, while a t-3 is nice for low end power they tend to drop off up top. That is if you get the common garrett t3 (.42/ .48)...some of the larger t-3's will work fine though.
run a compression and leak down test on your engine to see how it's doing internally,if that checks out then you'll be fine to run 7-8psi easily.
If done properly you should be able to run 10-12psi on a mechanically sound (ls/rs)engine
