Well I wasnt running a BOV for about a month and the shop told me that I needed to rebuild my turbo. Well I looked through my piping, and there is some oil in the charge pipes. However, I was wondering whether it is possible that the the oil is from BEFORE i was running the BOV..... Meaning that the oil isnt still going through teh chargepiping now that it isnt blowing back. Anyway if I do need a rebuild, how much do you think it would cost to have a t3/t4 OE Garret rebuilt? And is it possible to do it myself? Thanks!!

 

You can get the rebuild kit for about $100. The only thing you couldn't do yourself is balance the turbine/compressor, BUT if they are balanced individually you won't have to rebalance them.

well as for shaft play.... I pushed the shaft around a lil bit with my finger and it didnt move at all either in or to the sides... however the guy that was workin on my clutch said that tehre was shaftplay... DO i need a tool or soemthing to see if ther eis shaftplay?

 

i sent mine to cheapturbo.com for a full rebuild. included ship back to me for 250. and i would do it again. I tried the do it yourself deal but it is a quick fix that only lasts for about a month.
