How do you know wether your turbo needs a rebuild? How do u test it out of the car?

 

nobody knows?

 

mine is off the car and it needs to be rebuilt cuz there is oil coming out both sides of the turbo and there is mad shaft play

 

I knew it was time for a rebuild after there was oil coming out of my BOV. Also there was alot of shaft play.

 

ouch oil coming out the BOV so then oil was going threw the intercooler and possibly into your intake mani? any other damage done besides turbo

 

If you smoke at any temp = Turbo seals gone.
If your turbo shaft has a lot of play = bearings.
What is yours doing that you think it might be bad?

I was smoking alot and oil in my piping. . .no play on the shaft though. . .leaving tomorrow for rebuild. . .

 

Umm, oil vapor is very, very bad for your motor. It will INCREASE detonation. We all know what detonation does to our precious turbo'd motors dont we? Kablamo!

 

im not to sure what else could be damaged, my seals are definitly gone and i do have shaft play but i dont have a ball bearing turbo so i will let you know when i talk to the machine shop... hope fully it is rebuildable
