Who uses a gasket between the wastegate and turbo manifold?
Does anyone use a gasket between the wastegate and turbo manifold?I seem to blow these out often.Flamenco -t said he doesn't use one....
you should always use one. yes they do blow out, but if you use studs instead of bolts and then use lock nuts or some type that do not back off easly. you with solve htat issue as well as the common loosening of the waistegate issue.
i do and i have one w/ the fire ring, the manifold has studs and i am using a regular washer and a lock washer but a regular nut. I have had no problems with it leaking or comming loose.

i use studs on the manifod and the lock nuts don't back off..the gaskets just can't take the heat and burn up....what kind of gasket material do you use..maybe i should copper spray it.

I do not run the gasket between manifold and turbo. As long as both the surfaces are true, you shouldn't have any problems with it leaking. Paul
My gasket crumbled twice in last summers heat, so i ran it without one and it sealed fine, no leaks. I did continue have bolts back out because of heat expansion, but nothing some more loctite couldn't fix.
if you have flat surfaces on both the manifold and WG, you'll be fine. Clean them up and as it heats up, the metal will expand and the carbon will seal hairline spacing in between the two surfaces.

dont run the gasket, just make sure both surfaces are decked perfectly flat. Im sure you dont have the downtime available but if you need, send them to me and ill deck them.

My local hardware store sells small sheets of copper for projects and such.
Ive made a few copper gaskets, and never had problems with them blowing out.
You really dont need one like was stated above, but im just
**** about leaks

I dont run a gasket, they suck... as stated above, make sure their nice and clean surfaces, then boost away
i used the "fire ring" but i never ran as much boost as u do, i have heard of people not using the gasket.....give it a shot and see what happens
