Gasket making material... anyone ever .....
Last night my wastegate bolts came so loose that one fell out and was resting ont he power steering pump bracket..
The gasket is finally gone to the point wehre I can't stand it and can't get to ben's shop to pick one up.. soooo last night I stopped by a domestic store and bought a sheet of gasket material use in making exhaust gaskets for domestics.
I plan on making as many gaskets as the sheet will allow..
has anyone done this and how do they hold up? I think Felpro or Mr. Gasket makes the stuff, didn't pay attention to the manufacturer on the front..

ive used these only when the shops dont have the proper gasket or im desparate. ive only used them on waterpumps,tb gasket etc... never on FI application...i know the Tial gasket is made of metal and the deltas is the cardboard/cloth type,(dont know what wg u have) but i would only use it as a temporary fix till u get the right gasket. try some high temp thread lock to prevent this in the future...
I had the Tial gasket and it well is toasted... it had the wire mesh inside.. this stuff almost looks like a piece of gasket material with a ceramic resin mixed in.. white in color. I think it's high temp resistant... we shall see... i work on it tomorrow..
I make my gaskets out of carboard and hightemp RTV silicone the red stuff works great. I havent had any problems that was on a street car 12psi.
I had one of my TiAL gaskets blow out on my wastegate a few months back. Lucky for me, they send 2.
cardboard and high-temp silicone? interesting idea there... Do you use multiple pieces of thin cardboard, coating each lightly??

thats is correct thin cardboard. it just gasket. Now if i was trying to make a headgasket thats whole nother story. I would find some copper and make it that way.

Get a flat file... shape both the manifold and the wastegate to a flat finish.
Get a little bit of the red stuff and put back together with-out a hard gasket. Worked fine on the 2 Drag kits that I have done...
