No Leg Room *sniff*
I just finished school and have a nice 'cushy' job now so I'm looking to throw out my 92 Taurus (yuk) and get a real car: 97-01 Prelue
I went yesterday to see a 97 lude, and when I got in, I nearly cried; I have no leg room
(ie. my knees are in the steering wheel) I'm a big boy @ 6'4" and over 200lbs . So my question is:
How can I get more leg room out of the lude? Are their seat mounts that can be slid back all the way? Can I get lower seats? Can I remove the back seat? Thanks in advance for replies...

I'm 6'1", 175lbs and i barely have enough room driving my wife's lude (a lot better than my bro's RX-7 though). I can't imagine driving that around if i was 6'4"!
Get a used accord and put an H22 in it, next best thing. I don't know how roomy the new RSX is, but you may want to look at that.

that is weird. I am 6'3" and I have no trouble in my wife's lude. I have much more of a problem with head room! I have to tilt my head to fit inside with the helmet on.
You could always look to aftermarket seats. I know that you could find a way to modify those, and then you could put the factory seat back in when you want to sell it. That would be cheaper than engine swapinng an Accord, and then you would have a lude, not a moded Accord.
Does anyone out there have recommendations for aftermarket seats?

Thanks for the replies... removing the front seat.. hahah
I did have it all the way back and the steering wheel all the way up. Curse my large frame...

Slid the seat back, and lift the steering wheel up. I'm 6'3", and I have plenty of leg room, and that is without the seat all the way back. There is also a **** that you turn to lower your seat. I have a 1997 Prelude.

I'm 6'4 too and don't have a problem fitting in my 5th gen Prelude. I was actually really surprised how much room I have, I don't even drive w/ the seat all the way back!!
Yeah I'm kind of wondering why you can't fit either. I'm 6' 4", 230 and I can fit with minimal problems in my 5th gen. Did you adjust the steering column? I have to have the wheel all the way at the top to get in and out comfortably. The only other problem I have is when I sit up straight, my head digs into the headliner. Damn engineers designed this car for short people. I'd be really screwed if I ever try to enter an autocross or what not. There is now way I could get a helmet on and sit in the car comfortably.

hahaha...I'm glad I am asian. LoL...when the engineers at Honda designed the Preludes they weren't taking into account that huge americans would be buying them. That's why Americans complain about leg room and head room and etc. I fit nice a flush in the Recaro's too.
I even got a little bit of headroom after the helmet in any Honda. Huhuhu...
Well I guess Honda of America is addressing the issue now since the newer generation cars seem to be huge. I could barely see over the S2000's dash...hahaha.
The Civic and RSX looks huge. The newer generation Preludes compared the the prior one has much more room. The Accord Coupe has a ton of blind spots for someone of my size, but when one of my American Friends drive it, they say it's perfect. Doh! I guess I should move to Japan.
