Default you hear the power but cant feel it???

I got a JDM b16a in a 88 Honda civic hb. For some reason this has been happening a lot and I cant seem to know why. Well heres the story my fellow racers. When I go out racing, I usual red line at 7.5, when accelerating, I can fell the power of the car, but when the rpm hits 5000 to 7000 I hear nothing but my loud motor and no power. It seems like I’m not going anywhere. Then on second, it doesn’t pulls at all. When in third I can feel the power a little and that’s when I creep up. Because of this I loss to a damn stock SI and that pissed me off. I think there is something wrong. I just don’t know. Does anyone know anything about this or experience anything similar. please help if anyone can.

Sounds like a transmission problem. What tranny are you using?

So the RPMs are increasing but you aren't going faster? That means your clutch is fried.

When my valves were adjusted wrong my car sounded the same but it wasn't very fast (they were about 1/4 turn too tight)... maybe try checking & adjusting your valve clearances? It certainly couldn't hurt.

Aside from that, try to find out if the computer is retarding timing for whatever reason. What octane gas are you using? When I run on 92 my car is sloooooowwww... but on 94 it's like it peps right up.
