Internal/external wastegate question
Hi guys,
My Garrett T3 turbo is pretty soon to be upgraded to T3/T4 and i was wandering if it was possible to get rid of the internal wastegate and make it so an external wastegate (Tail/Turbonetics) can be fitted??? They probably have to weld it shut or something.
Anyway what are the benefits of an external wastegate other then more precise boost control??? Should i do it or leave it alone???
I'm aiming for 300 whp when i'm done and i have a h23.
Hope you guys can help me out thnx

actaully the way they cure this is by making a flange on your dowpipe to block the hole after the internal wastegate is removed then you can run any other wastegate externally you wanted to.
Great, thnx for the info.
Do you think it's relevant to go from internal to external??? I'm only trying to make 300 hp and not 500 hp or something. I thought external wastegates are a must for higher horsepower???

yes i think its a good idea to go with external, external will allow you to have better boost control and this is especially important if you are boosting low numbers on a nearly stock motor. SOmetime internal wastegates can't flow enough to keep the boost where you want
