Wastegate Sizing Question
I apologize in advance for asking something so fundamental to turbocharging a Honda but I have searched on H-T as well as Google and I can't find the answer.
I have a b18c1 and I am installing a turbo from a DragIII system (t3/t4 57 trim, stage III turbine) and I am getting a tubular equal length manifold. I currently have a TiAl 38mm wastegate and am looking to boost at around 0.5 bar. When I order the manifold I need to specify which wastegate flange to install but I am concerned about boost creep.
Should I look at getting a 40mm or larger wastegate for my setup? From what I understand, a larger wastegate helps to bypass more exhaust gases in order to keep the turbo from building boost and spiking. Since I am looking for a low boost level should I be looking at a larger wastegate? I see a larger turbo in my future, something like an SC61 or 60-1, should I plan for the future and get a larger wastegate now, or will I even need a larger wastegate?
