Default vtec oil pressure code 22

so I've been getting this code 22. I would usually get it in 5th gear, when I hit vtec (4800 vtec point)

but now, its been getting more and more frequent, to the point of EVERYTIME I turn the car on, but I can get maybe one or two vtec pulls before the light comes on and I go into 'limp' mode.. so waht do you guys think?
its a 93 h22 jdm motor in a 96 civic hb. using a gsr ecu obd1
I've done almost everything I can think of.. changed the oil, using 5w30 castrol gtx just changed a week ago. changed out the vtec oil pressure sensor, checked for continuity (good), cleaned the screen on the solenoid/vtec spool valve, I even jumped the harness on the engine and went straight to the ecu, I even used the stock ecu (obd1 p13) still the same thing. I even thought it was the v-afc, but even removing that the code 22 is still there.

it doesnt come on immediately. i can drive it and pull 1 maybe 2 vtec pulls (to redline, thru all the gears) and then upon decelleration, the light comes on and back into limp mode. as for the oil pan, its fine, no dents. no leaks. nothing.
I'm going to replace the vtec spool valve assembly tomorrow and hope thats the problem.
maybe becuz I live in vegas, the oil gets too hot? might need an oil cooler?

the only think I can think of and have heard from a few people is that it could possibly be the oil pump? kinda far fetched. the oil light doesnt come on at all, plus I still have enuf power to kill off 99-00 si buses in limp mode. if it was oil pump I would think it would be crappy power at startup and running all the time?

if it is the oil pump that would mean changing the whole assembly? the whole drivers side of the block? wow. I'm hoping for a more simple solution ..

I dont post on here much at all, but I learn a lot from everyone..
thanks for any/all replies.. I'm kinda stuck on this one.
hope you guys can help!

There are two (2) screens to be cleaned for the vtec solenoid valve assembly. Did you clean both of them?

The helm has a troubleshooting procedure for code 22. Sounds like you have checked part of it already. I think the VTEC pressure sensor is about 60 psi, and the idiot light is like 7psi. So you could have low oil pressure even if you don't have a oil light. I would check your oil pressure if you have already checked everything else. You could try 15-50 oil and see if that fixes it. Thicker oil should give a little higher oil pressure. If if does fix it, check your oil pump, bypass spring/piston, piston squirter regulator, etc.

Ya good suggestion. I made the same one in the Hybrid forum you posted BigBlockCRX.

If you can check oil pressure.

Seems like we never hear back when trying to help ppl out. Were we right? Were we wrong? What was the problem, how did you fix it, any updates, etc. ???

no no , dont take offense guys, I was getting a lot of sh*t from other people on other boards.

so with the 22. everything was fine. it was my own dumb mistake, just didnt realize it until I actually took the spool solenoid off the car and started to take it apart to clean it out, found out that there was a piece of honda-bond on the inside and it was preventing v-tec. its weird, it worked great in the beginning, and only had a cel in high rpms in 5th, then got worse, would come on sooner and sooner. so I guess that little piece of honda-bond got stuck in the right spot..

now you ask, honda-bond ? why?

ok so I was trying to fix the gasket without buying a gasket, I usually fix my car on sundays (day off) and everyone knows you can't buy squat on sundays. so I used a little hondabond on the vtec solenoid gasket and that was where the problem had begun. lesson learned. and lots of help from all you guys

I'm gonna make honda tech my home page from now on. maybe I can help you guys out sometime

thanks
