how does this sound ?
This guy gave me a tip on how to remove the crank pulley bolt and this is what he said. He told me to remove right wheel and plastic cover and put a breaker bar on to the bolt and the end to the car's frame. Then he told me to crank the engine and the bolt should come loose. Because the engine turns clockwise, the stucked breaker bar will turn the bolt counterclockwise thus loosing it. Isn't this a little dangerous to the engine??
Btw, I have a 95 accord 2.7L v6. I'm trying to change my timing belt. Because i'm a home mechanic, i have limited tools. Thus removing crank pulley will be a bitch. If somebody could offer me some tips, please do .

Are you sure the engine turns clockwise? In the Helms manual it says to turn the crank counter clockwise to set TDC so I thought thats the way it turns, not really sure though.
I've never heard of that method. I just changed the timing belt on an H22. I just took off the starter and jamed a wrench in the flywheel and put a 6ft pipe on the end of a wratchet. Leverage is a beautiful thing. I dont know if that'll work for you though, my engine was sitting on my garage floor
Most people I think get the special tool to hold the crank, I've also heard you can have someone push on the brakes. Good luck, the crank bolt is an evil beast.

Mmm...i didn't get ur point on the engine turning direction. I said it turns clockwise but because the break bar is stuck to the car's frame, it will put torque on bolt going counterclockwise.
Did u have to take off wheel to access ur bolt?

it would make things alot easier, not really necessary if you have a lift i suppose. i dont know bout that procedure your friend was talking bout though, double check just to make sure.

I think the V6 and all the 7th-gen engines were flipped so they turn clockwise. In that case the transmission is on the left side of the car.
If so, then that should work. If you try that on an earlier 4-cyl engine it would just tighten the crank pulley.
But anyway, I'd be nervous about doing it that way. Ask some small local garage if they'll loosen it for you with an air wrench. Then snug it up by hand & drive right home.

On my F22, the spare tire lugwrench fit perfectly on the crank bolt. I made the mistake of leaving it on while cranking the car... I tried cranking it... heard a PONG!!!! and no cranking. then it hit me. I forgot the wrench on the friggin bolt.
the lug wrench is now crescent shaped. I should take a picture later. this was from before...

I took off all the splash shields, pulled the car up & turned the steering hard left. So all the mechanic had to do was reach in alongside the wheel & hit it with a long 19mm socket on an air gun. Took 2 minutes & he didn't even charge me anything, but I expected him to ask $5 or $10???
Look for a little independant garage. The big chains have lawyers & insurance rules. If you drive around for a week & the pulley falls off they think you're gonna sue them.

dude go out and buy the crank bolt removal tool, its like 30$, dont do that **** your talking about, you can majorly **** up some ****! the tool allows you to use two torque bar and one is wedge against the car , like you are talking about, and you break the nut loose with your leg, real easy and simple, believe me, use the right tool for the right job!
yeah... even if the motor spun in the proper direction, I wouldnt want to see that kind of force exerted on, lets say... the starter teeth, or whatever else. Its a very bad idea.
Get that thing off by hand, or w/ an airgun. If' you're doing your own work, you should be investing in some tools such as a breaker bar, etc. anyhow.
