temp gauge prob.
I was driving to work this morning and my temp gauge quit on me. I worked fine until I turned into my work place and it suddenly dropped. Any pointers I should check before I run over to the dealership?
Anyone have any insight on this? I have a similar problem. Dropped the tranny 2x (clutch/input shaft bearings). After the first time temp gauge worked erradically, after the second it no longer works at all.
Thermostat works fine, mileage is very good (~30 hwy), heat is fine (in winter), VTEC engages as normal, but the gauge is pegged at Cold and never moves. Had car running, disconnected and reconnected coolant temp sensor near distributor. Car stumbled upon disconnecting, cleaned connection with contact cleaner, but gauge still doesn't work.
Seems to me if the sensor was bad the car would idle bad connected or disconnected. Am I wrong...and should I just go get a new sensor?

there is a sensor that air comes out from the engine on the side and goes into the sensor. Chances are your sensor came off. It's a little black wire with a 1 inch long sensor (circular) on the end of it. It is burried under some wires by the rest of all of the other sensors. Push it on all the way and u should be good.
