Default Just received a Y8 head for free from a friend-Can I save it?Or part it?

Okay, so one of my friends is going to college and he had a y8 head just sitting at home. He gave it to me The only thing is, is that it's in a bunch of different peices. I kind of built it up and got the peices where they belong, but I didn't clean it or anything. What should I do first and is it even worth trying to rebuild?I have a y7 and I want to put this y8 head on. Should I just clean everything in water because everything is greasy. It seems as if most of the parts are there, just a few bolts missing. Basically, what would YOU do if you recieved a y8 head from someone in different peices and all dirty and greasy?Clean it and revive it, or part it out. I really want to make this puppy work, but don't know exactly how much work will be involved in preparing it. Thanks a bunch.

i would take it to a machine shop and have them hot tank it. also have them check it for warpage and maybe they can put it together. if you have the cash i say pet a p&p on it too. then build up your mimi-me.

Maybe you should pay to get it all done.

Thanks for the replies. I guess that would be the best thing to do would be to take it to a machine shop and have them check it out. If it's worth building, I will have the head ported and polished no question.

water won't clean greasy oily heads. use some degreaser or solvent.

use Gunk ,spray it on,let it sit for 15 mins or so and then wash it off.Itll clean it off pretty good.
