OK, its complicated how it happened, but I've lost my rear upper strut tower bar. Now, Acura charges $114 for a new one, and my insurance payments are robbing me of all the money I have, so two questions:
1) Is it really important? I'm thinking about just staying without it. I mean, there are soo many bars in this car...does it even do anything?
2) Does anyone make an aftermarket bar that works....and hopefully is cheaper?
Any input would be awesome...

If you're talking about the trunk brace (right by the tailights) then it makes a difference.
If you're talking about rear strut bar above the rear-shock towers, then it doesn't make a much difference.

yes, since you're talking to the dealer about replacing it, u most likely mean the brace, and yes that does make a difference. but if you're looking for strut bars, they do make knockoffs for around $90-100. 2 of mine are knockoffs, front lower and rear... (lower?), but they do make a type-r rear upper, kinda pricey tho, i felt it was worth it.

trunk bar or the lower bar underneath the car?
The rear strut bar does make a difference as it keeps the rear tyres more stable through esses type turns. I should know the rear get's really light when your heavy braking and turning hard. I've seen alot of drivers have that issue unless they changed out susp. Every brace counts in the overall handling but not everyone drives like me or you..so some may see the need some may not.

I never bring my Type R to the bar. Too many drunks and stupid people. I typically bring my '85 Toyota truck. Don't really care too much about door dings and such. So I would say Type R's and Bars are not a good mix.

hahaha, yeah i don't take my type r to the bar either.
Anyway, no, I'm talking about the strut bar. The one above the shock towers. Did anyone else have this from the factory? Why are there holes for it if it's not factory?

Nevermind, I just called acura again. He must have misunderstood me and gave me the price for the front strut tower bar...since acura doesn't make a rear strut tower bar.
Too bad my car had one...I wonder where it came from...
And that still leaves the question...why are those holes there??
