Default Where to get a decent C clamp style valve spring compressor?

I'm fixing to pull my head and replace my exhaust valves and swap out my inner v springs for some Portflow inners. I would like to get something like the snap-on but hopefully I won't be having to do this often and don't feel like spending $100 for it. Any suggestions for a good C clamp style for a good price? I will also have to get the adapter from Honda correct? Any idea how much it runs? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you were able to convince your mom to not allow those morons at the dealer touch your motor. I'm sure SgT and others can give you good info regarding valve spring compressor. Good luck..

Dealer quoted me $1,700.

My parts list of new valves, complete top end gasket kit, Portflow inner valve springs, timing belt, and water pump comes out to less than $600 if I do the work my self. A pretty big difference.

I'd think that the C-clamp style compressor would be awkward to use since the deck of the head would have to exposed. You'd either have to prop it off the workbench or turn the head onto the studs.

I don't think this one was listed in that post.

Is there anything extra I need to purchase to make this work? I've seen in other posts where I will need an adapter from Honda and possibly different bolts to secure it to the head.

Hard to tell just by looking at the pictures, but you'll probably need to run to the hardware store to pick up misc. metric bolts and washers to mount the brackets to the head.

I don't see why you'd need an adapter of any sort. The only significant differences are in the mounting bolts and the head of the compressor where it meets teh keeper. The head should be a universal size anyways and work with larger and smaller keepers.
