Default Valve Spring Compressor

first post here, but i used to be a regular on H-A.net...

i searched "valve spring compressor" and all i found was a wtb ad so here we go...

tryin to prep my ls head so i can send it out for a p&p/3 angle... tryin to get the valves out... i have a craftsman vsc its a pain to get in and its not workin too well as far as gettin the springs compressed... dont think its a bad tool, just a little bit bigger than the retainers etc... fitment isnt that easy cuz of the spring angle

if you've done your own, maybe you can give me some tips? im goin crazy and want to get the stupid thing sent out before too long...

maybe if you've used a better vsc or something, id be interested in knowing what kind it was, where to get it, how much etc...

thanks

Not sure how much it is, but I've heard the Honda one works perfectly. Get it from the dealership, of course.

ive read that snap-on makes a decent kit. I think they sell it at summitracing. I need to eventually swap my valve springs too, so I'd like to know as well. Anyone with firsthand experience?

I heard snap-on makes a good valve spring compressor too, but it's only really necessary if you're working with the head in the car.

You should do a search on the internet because I know you could make your own out of a few simple things. Try asking in the all motot forum and tech forum.

yeah i know the concept is pretty simple but i want the execution to be pretty simple, too. i might just let my machinist worry about gettin 'em out, he's gonna see enough money as it is! how much more can he possibly charge me to drop the old valves...

Search "valve spring compressor" in the archives.

In order of cheapest to most expensive:
http://www.northerntools.com

http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net

http://www.snapon.com

They're all the same.
