Default *Attention* All YS1 tranny users in b16 EF's

Hey I'm getting ready to drop in my new motor set-up after blowing up my Turbo ZC motor. I'm using now a OBD1 Cable trans YS1 "LSD" trans and I want to know what all you YS1 users are using for axles I mena what kind of car did you get them for and did you have to modify them at all. Here's what I've heard and know: All Y1 , J1 , S1 , trannys all can just use 90'-93' integra axles. BUT YS1 tranny you have to use 90'-93' integra axles and remove the washer on the axles and remove the dust cover from the hub Since YS1 trannys use alittle bite longer intermediate shaft then the , Y , S , and J 1's. So I just want to know what you guys had to use and what you had to modify. Y1 , J1 , S1 , really don't count here cause I know what do to with those but YS1 is different. Thanks

your post is mostly correct, but it is very simple:

It doesn't matter which tranny, whatever axle you use, use the corresponding intermediate shaft. If you use the 90-93 axles, use the 90-93 int. shaft. If you use SiR axles, use the SiR int. shaft.

I have Ys1.. I used the 90-93 teg axles and int. shaft and I removed the dust seals and spacers... Turns great from lock to lock and I've spent somewhere clost to 15 hours total track time with my setup.

what he said except for the track time. I use mine in plenty of autoX's though.

You guys Rock . Thanks you soooo much. I've seen a site that shows a comparison between the different shafts and there's like not even a 1/4 of a inch difference but I talked to Place Racing and HASport and they both said to remove the dust sheilds and spacers. I'll try without removing anything at first when it goes in and if I have a problem I'll then try removing shields and spacer. Thanks again guys for your help. Hey by the way since my trannies a LSD is there any special Oil to use. I knwo hondas use regular motor oil instead of Gear oil but I think I remeber reading somewhere that sometimes the LSD makes alittle noise and to use a certain type of oil to help the life of the LSD and to cut down on the noise. I'm may be wrong but just curious. I'm not use to having to deal with a LSD I've always had ZC's or Si's trans for the last three years and now switched to B series after blowing up my Turbo ZC motor. I'm just trying to do things right and not make stupid mistakes. I've always said " It's better to ask what may seem to others as a stupid question then to not ask and F**** something up.... either way in the end if you ask you'll get your answer " It's always worked so far.
Thanks Again

Well, what I've read on h-t is that you can use the GM LSD additive to prevent noise, but it slightly reduces the like of the LSD. I run Honda MTF in my Y1 LSD, its been over a year since I've swapped.

I've heard this too and it is INCORRECT. The best thing to use is GM Synchromesh #12345349, which is a manual transmission fluid. I put it in my YS1 with LSD to help with some slight grinding. It completely stopped the grinding and the nasty LSD chatter is completely gone. Use Synchromesh!

When you install any 90-3 axles in a USDM ED chassis, you will have to remove the dust seals on the axle and sheilds on the hubs. The only exception to this rule is if you are using SiR hubs (or integra, but this is not the proper setup for an 88-91 chassis ). Also, you are incorrect in thinking that the YS1 has the longer half shaft, it is the Y1 tranny because it was designated for use in only the CRX/Civic's and not integra's like the J1/S1's.
