Throwing a Code...suggestions please...
ok, i have some experience with wiring...have wired vtec 4-5 times and have several friends who have way more experience compared to me.
i have an ITR motor in a 92 civic. i'm using the obd1 wiring harness, obd1 distributor...obd1 ecu...etc..etc.
the car throws a vtec solenoid code after 5-10 minutes of driving everyday...
here is what i've done...
i've run 2 other ecu's, and both have thrown the code as well.
so i've ruled out the ecu as my problem.
i have checked for continuity between the solenoid and the ecu...
so i'm pretty sure its not a continuity problem.
i just switched the vtec solenoid w/ one from a 99-00 vtec head and the code is still thrown.
so i'm pretty sure its not a problem with the vtec solenoid...
***keep in mind, my car ALWAYS engages vtec, and does so immediately wtihout any sign of problems...basically if the CEL didn't work you would not have any reason to think the code would exist.
based upon what i've described...can you guys please give me some suggestions as to what i should try next.
could it be a wire or connection that isn't connected well enough and is sending a signal to the ecu, but the connection itself is good enough so that vtec engages...
i'm really lost at this point, and i've had two guys who have wired 100's of cars look at it and say they've never seen anything like it.
any help would be appreciated...
thanks.
