Default HKS Hiper

Does anyone have this exhaust? Does it have a good, deep sound? How many incehs is 96mm? Is it worth the money?

Its basically the same thing as the Apex N1 and the hiper doesn't have any logo or insignia to say its HKS. The N1 does. If you wanna a nice muffler go with The HKS Ti-muffler really light or go with the HKS Carbon-Ti muffler. Mine is very deep and tolerable with the noise.

The Sound will vary on diameter of piping, FI or N/A and cat or no cat.

Hiper muffler does have "Hiper" engraved on the tip, much like the Apexi logo on the N1. The HKS is a great exhaust in general

I've delt with shops (as a retailer) and at 4 diff. distribution places and have never seen the hiper engraved. I have the HKS CArbon-Ti and no logo as well. All the mufflers i've seen were orginally packed in a box

I sell HKS myself . The brand new in box muffler my partner had was engraved unfortunately he doesn't have the pic up anymore, so i'll be sure to get it today. Maybe it's just the Hiper or maybe just the universal mufflers instead of the full catbacks

hmm, this is odd maybe they're like Apexi where they just started doing the logos recently...because my friend had the Universal Hiper muffler and it had the logo on it.
Oh well, if it does cool, if not doesn't matter. Still a great exhaust. Just be sure to buy from a good place (cough cough) and you'll be sure to get genuine HKS parts

I bought my exhaust 3 years ago I think and it doesn't have a logo on the muffler. I bought the catback. I love it. its got a nice sound.

This was my HKS Hiper Muffler. The ones we sell say HKS on them, and have for a couple years now. I wouldn't be surprised to find out the old HKS Hipers didn't have an insignia on them, because I've sold various HKS Sport exhausts for EF CRX/Civic, and some of them have polished mufflers, some don't.

BTW, the exhaust sounds great in my opinion, but is a little loud and can be kinda "buzzy" at certain RPMs. However, this can be countered w/ the optional Silencer. 96mm is approximately 4.5".

All in all, I really liked it, especially the look.

Your tip should be that size, this is the N/A muffler.

I did forget to mention that I had the muffler inlet expanded, and that I was using mandrel bent 2.5" piping, since I had a JDM collector header. I'm sure this did make the exhaust note slightly higher pitched.

ahh yup. that would do it. I'm still running the whole original setup. did you feel a difference by just changing the piping to 2.5?

i think also having the carsound and no resonators at all probably contributed to the high volume

I never had the standard HKS piping, as I didn't care for the 55mm diameter. I can tell you the 2.5" piping made a big difference over the stock ITR piping I had on the car, but it definately lost some power on the low end.
