HELP!! Need real answers on b18c swap into my 90 teg
O.K. I swapped a 94 usdm b18c1 into my 90 teg ls, which included engine, wiring harness, and ecu. kept my ls trans. My good friend and mechanic (owns his shop) did the wiring (started the first turn of the key, whew!) now I have a problem with hitting 4,000 rpm on the highway. Heres what it does; i hit exactly 4k rpm and it boggs like a rev limiter until it hits 3,500 rpm and kicks the power back in, it only does it once in a while. engine light comes on periodically, codes are as follows: speed sensor and electric load unit. Now i bought a speed sensor and everything lined up in the trans, where the mechanical speedometer was ( speed sensor code still comes up) also to top it all off, i connected a fields vtec controller and when its on, the vtec point makes the car jerky and backfires ( what the F#$% ). Now I can't run the car past 4500 rpm if i remove the vtec controller completely from the harness ( I did buy the fields harness that fits between the ecu and wiring harness, so i didnt cut the harness) same thing its jerky????? one last thing the car doesn't pull after 7,000 rpm, it just revs out? ( iknow it doesnt pull like my 92 gsr did)

well 1.. you need to get the ELD from a newer integ.. i think it starts in the 92 and up...your friend has the wiring thing all wrong...i sugest you go look into a different shop for it....im hopin your using the gsr ecu
its got to be the wiring or your ecu , you need more info , does the check engine light come on? what codes are you throwing ? the vtec controller might be set or installed wrong ,are you run a pr3 ecu or p72 , go to g2ic.com for more help

sorry,but you must admit some of the questions people are posting are pointless. needless to say, it is the stock gsr ecu i am using. I even swapped an ecu out of a newer gsr with a skunk2 program and it basically did the same. thanks for your input.

Its a electrical/hardware issue.
