how do i know if transmission has lsd
just got a b16 from a "distributor" paid for the lsd tranny and would like to know if there is a way i can make shure it really has it and didn't get screwed. are there any markings, numbers, etc. i can look for to know if it is lsd equipped. if anyone has any info i'd appreciate it.
Look through the holes in the tranny where the input shaft for the axles go: If you can see straight through from side to side then you have and LSD tranny. If there is a rod coming down through the center blocking you from seeing through the other side then you don't have an LSD tranny.

well it sounded like he had the motor out of the car? so the easiest way would be to look trough the hole on the tranny....but another way would be to jack the car up witht he front wheels off the ground ...put it in gear and go.... they should both spin equally fast... cars with no lsd spins slower on the driver side because the passenger side axle is where the tranny is
you guys come up with the weirdest ways to find out.
If the engine is in the car, jack up the front, and spin one tire forward.
IF the other tire moves forward also, then it's LSD
IF the other one spins backwards, it's an open differential.
