Default Any OBD1 B16 users Here?

After blowing my turbo ZC motor I'm done with D series and ZC's and I'm getting ready to go pick up my B16 tomorrow. Here's the thing I have two choices. One get a OBD0 B16 or get a OBD1 B16 ( have to change over the Dizzy , injectors , and ECU ). The Company I'm getting the motor from said if he sells me a OBD1 B16 and he'll change over the dizzy , and ECU ( I'm just gonna use my old ZC injectors since they're the same as B16's ). Now will using a OBD1 B16 on a OBD0 ECU throw any false or funny codes as long as I switch everything over that needs to be. Also I'd like to use the OBD1 since it has 10 more HP and is supposely alittle better because of it. Cost isn't a issue since I have more then enough to cover either one ( the obd0 being alittle cheaper ). Just curious since I don't want to get stuck with a motor that I have to switch a bunch of things around. Just the injectors , Dizzy ( distributer ) , and ECU is fine with me unless there's something else I'm forgetting.

The injectors (you DON'T want to use your old ZC injectors), distributer, and ECU should all come with the swap package. In any case, swapping a 1992+ motor into a 1988-1991 car is not the big deal that it once was. In fact, lots of us here are running 1992+ electronics in our cars. The conversion is somewhat time consuming but in no way difficult. ANY competent engine swapper should be able to handle it.

The bottom line: go ahead and do the newer motor. There are several advantages to doing the newer motor compared to the older one. 10 more HP is but one. Improved fuel economy is another. And having a newer, lower mileage motor is yet another good reason to go 2G. Finally, if you live in California, it is easier to ref a newer B16A. Just be sure to research prices carefully. You might be able to get a JDM GSR motor for not much more, depending on where you get it.

Once you convert to OBD1 and get the wiring done you will be set for the future!!!

Also try and get the 1992+ Xsi Motor With YS1 JDM tranny might even come with LSD make sure you get the YS1 tranny though!!!

I have same setup like you doing pretty good trying to pass REF currently

I believe the casting on the head is better on the newer motor as well. I would go with the newer one by a longshot, obd1 is the way to go.

O.K. Where's a site that tells you how to convert to a OBD1 set-up. I know I'll have to get rid of my injector resistor box for one thing. Also I was going to use my ZC injectors just to hold me over since most Honda injectors are 250cc and since I have them on hand. Where can I go to get the conversion directions. I've already had wiring experience from other swaps and re-wiring my HB from DPFI to MPFI. Thanks

Yes, both ZC and B16A injectors have the same flow capacity (240cc/min, actually). But ZC injectors are peak and hold (low impedance) and 1992+ B16A injectors are saturation (high impedance). If you try to use low impedance injectors with an ECU made for high impedance injectors, you will damage the ECU (much like using speakers with too low of an impedance for given amp). Use the newer injectors.
