i dont think alot of people do cause it pretty much a waste of money...no offense.

Most places sell them for $700 more than a b18c swap. And $700 for 5hp is alot of cash. You could do a P&P head or cams for $700. Even a H22 swap is like a grand less.

But more than i got, and its different. And if you got a good deal, who cares.

 

I guess you didn't see RyanR's dyno with just a header. :shrugs:

At least you will have something not many have or thing about doing...but their are people out their that try to do CTR conversions and will spend the money to do so.

 

IMO, for the price it's not worth it. It's more of a "bling" factor or bragging rights.

and what about the LSD or close ratio tranny? **** I'd give up my gs-r swap to a B16B anyday.

 

I was seriously confused when i read this thread. Then i re-read the title and saw that it said B16b. Haha, how much did you pay?

 

well imo the price isnt worth it for an itr motor either. type r **** is too overpriced. itr motor for 5000+ rather than a gsr for about 3500. you could just buy a gsr and build it up for cheaper.

 

Um when was the last time you checked the prices on a B16B and a ITR swap? They are cheaper than 5 grand.

(just kiddin' when i say this okay - please don't be offended) who taught you math ...if you wanna build a b18c1 to equal or surpass a B18c5 swap (or even b16b) you'll need alot more than 1500.00-

um last time I checked CTR/ITR cams are about 400.00, a good LSD is around 750.00-1000.00, plus engine parts are balance to handle higher RPMS, valve springs are 150.00, not to mention the gear ratios of a CTR ITR are better than GSRs IMO, the only thing i see as "not great" about a B16b motor swap is the lower amount of torque generated compared to a B18c (GSR or ITR) motor

what close ratio gearbox? 4.4 fd and same gears as b16a, us OR jdm versions, right?

its not just 5hp... the power curve is much different

 

i was comparing it to a GS-R tranny cack and it does have the 4.7 FD..

 

i think the b16b comes with 4.9FD

 

the b-16b tranny is one of the best for street due to the shorter gears but unless your gonna turbo the b-16 you wont be happy with overall performance. However gsr is always a lovely route. but keep the b-16 b tranny.!! you could buy an ls block and do lsvtec the b-16 piston will raise compression and ls vtec is always lovely

itr/ctr engine are worth the price if you are happy with the reliability and also the power. any gsr swap will need to spend more than a type r swap in total in order to get the equal power.

its 4.785 FD and an si tranny KINDA = CTR tranny, but the ctr has LSD and better syncronizers

and i think its worth it...spoon 1.8 stroker kit...a few bolt ons, and its quite the lil bugger.

gs-r tranny does not equal ctr/itr gears dumb ***. I hate misinformation input. USDM ITR gears equal USDM B16A gears. GS-R gears are a little longer. LS gears are the longest.


Also no need for a B16B 1.8 stroker kit. not everyone here drag races. I bet most you never even seen a B16B in person before

B16B is a nice potent high revving motor that'll *** rape a gs-r motor. stock for stock.

tranny from same engine 4.785....great ratio
syncro's....SAME as b16a tranny

for the price difference from sir2 b16a you get
lsd
better valve springs
better cams
better intake manifold
better tbody
balance to rev higher
etc....

list goes on and on.....oh yeah you get the CTR crank pulley.....

if you are going to buy a b16a and mod it to get it too a b16b then it is MUCH CHEAPER just to buy the b16b to start off with!!!

 

4.7 is what I have been saying. some **** keeps saying 4.9. 4.9 is aftermarket such as ATS or something. Honda never had a 4.9 FD from the factory for a B-series.

THIS IS TRUE&gt;&gt;&gt;.....ats is the only aftermarket company (that i know of) other than a custom unit at 4.9......

 

I thought SRR carries a 4.9 FD gear for the b series as well?
and I do not believe the CTR tranny has the 4.7FD.. that was reserved for the 98+ITR, from what I've seen all CTR trannies are 4.4 FD.. I could be wrong
